We are formed to provide the needed skills, training, and information required of today's Central Sterile Processing Technicians. Our passion is teaching and our goal is to prepare individuals who seek to pass IAHCSMM'S certification examination on CRCST, CIS, CER, and CHL. Our team has an expert approach; every candidate with dignity and respect, as well as a customized teaching methodology that will enhance assimilation and understanding of the course content. We do all of this with a professional touch. We are here also to assist with job placement and the IAHCSMM mandatory four hundred hours of hands‑on experience. What Is CRCST?
The CRCST - "Certified Registered Central Service Technician". This credential is issued by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), a professional association instrumental to safe and quality patient care. The "Certified Registered Central Service Technician" (CRCST), recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the experience, knowledge, and skills necessary to provide competent services in sterile processing and distribution of surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. CRCSTs are integral and indispensable members of the health care team. These technicians are responsible for decontamination, inspection, assembling, packaging, disinfecting, and sterilizing of reusable surgical instruments and equipment to render them safe for the surgical and the outpatients.
Central Services and Sterile Processing Technicians are indispensable support to all patient care services in care facilities. They are responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing the medical devices and supplies needed in‑patient care, especially during surgery.
Training includes preparing special packages of equipment for specialty procedures. Central Supply is also the main inventory storage area of the hospital and technicians are responsible for processing, quality assurance, and storing the equipment and instrumentation so that it is available when needed. Upon completion of the program, students may expect to find employment in hospitals and various outpatient surgical centers.
Students require 400 hours of hands‑on experience after completion. A record of this requirement must be submitted to IAHCSMM within 6 months of passing the provisional certification.
Certification may be taken through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM).
Length of Program: 10–15 weeks
